Vetevendosje had said that citizens of the Podujevo municipality from February 2020 to June, when the requirements for assessment in the Constitution have been submitted, have been deprived of their right to the Constitutions to elect their representative as mayor and to have local governance elected through free elections, with the excuse that they endanger public health.
“With the president's decisions to postpone indefinitely holding elections for the Bessina municipality chairman, but ultimately for choosing the mayor of the North Mitrovica municipality, the president has deprived citizens of the right to choose and choose, as defined by Article 45 of the Constitution. The president's decision to postpone the election in Besiana and Mitrovica is contrary to the Constitution of the Republic, as well as to international conventions integrated in the Constitutions as well as to the good practices and European Charter of Local Self-government”, the VV communiqué said.
But already on the eve of the October local elections, VVI's number two, Glauk Konjfuca, has said he personally thinks the elections should be delayed because of the pandemic.
