The World Health Organisation (OBSH) said it is monitoring a new version of the coronary known as “Mu”, which was first identified in Colombia in January.
This version, bearing the scientific name B.1.621, has been classified as a <x0vanians with study interest”, the organisation said.
O BSH said more studies are needed to know more about this version, but according to health officials, it has mutations that indicate a risk of resistance to vaccines.
Worldwide, there is a concern about the appearance of new variants of the coronary, since the number of infected is marking growth because of the much more contagious Delta version of the coronary.
The number of infected people is increasing among the unexcused and in areas where measures against pandemic have eased.
All viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19, change over time.
However, some mutations can influence the properties of a virus and make its spread easier, then affect the severity of the disease that causes it and its resistance to vaccines and drugs.
O The BSH has currently identified four disturbing variants of COVID-19, including Alpha, which is present in 193 countries, and Delta, spread in 170 countries.
Five other options, including Mu, should be monitored, according to WHO.
This version was first discovered in Colombia, but it has also been reported in other countries of South America and Europe.
