The conference on the progress of the case in the case of Peter Shala, accused of war crimes by the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, has begun. The conference was not physically present, Shala, but through video connection.
The SPS has presented itself to judges in the preliminary procedure so far on the issue. He has said that most of the materials have been translated into Albanian, meanwhile, sought to extract materials of expertise.
“All that can be drawn are extracted, what has not been issued are the objects of a request that has not received a solution. As far as English translations are concerned, we have released the last package yesterday, and with this we close the Albanian translation of witness statements. As far as expertise is concerned, there are some unrestrained investigative steps left. We ask the court for permission to extract some material of this rule”.
Shala's lawyer, Jean-Louis Gilissen, has demanded that he have several extensions of materials he says have not surrendered.
Protection also required that several interviews of witnesses be translated into Albanian.
“The question of recording, audio-video of some of the statements and interviews of witnesses. Some of them are needed in the video format, there is no translation in certain parts of the interview because sometimes there are some gestures making to the witness and camera to show some evidence, they are limited but we need”.
The trial of the preliminary procedure has ordered Z. The SP to issue criminal expertise on the case.
“Based on SPS request for authorization to extract criminal expertise after considering reasons from SPS, I order the SPS to issue an expert act not later than October 8th 2021”.
