The therapy for COVID “costly” in Kosovo, patients are interrupting treatment

Besim Kodra from the Association of Patients' Rights in Kosovo said they have accepted complaints from many patients who are unable to pay drugs for the treatment of Covid.

He even says that especially for cases that live on less than 1 euro a day, these prices are <x0-venging” for them.

We've had cases of complaints of patients who have come as a result of the inability to pay drugs for treatment of the disease and we've repeatedly addressed these complaints that have sometimes amounted to four and five thousand euros for treatment of a patient. Of course, for cases that live on less than 1 euro a day these are like killing them”, Kodra said.

According to him, the Health Ministry had to provide drugs for all patients and compensate for the damage to pandemic, as there are many who have stopped therapy.

The Ministry of Health has had to provide drugs for all patients who are treated eventually if these drugs couldn't be secured, so that all patients could handle the disease properly. Based on the research we have, there are patients who have cut the therapy out of the way to buy it”.

The multiple deaths by Covid-19 from him are not random, since there are cases that could save some of them if they had a more dignified treatment, EO reports.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic all governments have been liberal in sharing tools for different things. They have had to divide tools for the purchase of drugs, a supply of cheap material so that patients or health staff would lack nothing to treat illness”.

Even Pharmacist Laureta Berisha-Kosumi, in an interview for Online Economics, said that in the drug store she works in comes cases of different types and the price of drugs is quite high.

“Therapeutic in patients with Covid-19 includes several types of anti-viral, anti-biotic and additional supplements, and the cost of such therapy is quite high and taken into account where many times in the centers of family medicine are missing multiple”, she said.

She says that they feel bad when they see citizens not having the money for therapy, and this even aggravates their physical and psychic state.

And it's been given that patients have just done the adequate tests and that they've been positive, they've received their descriptions and they're directed to our drugs, but that the price is pretty high on therapy, and normally that we feel bad when they don't have the money, and that's how it burdens their physical and mental state of”

Facing them with such cases often leads to manipulations for various interests that they become patients, she says.

For us as pharmacists, it is very difficult to face those who have received expensive therapies. And then don't change therapy where patients think they shouldn't get cheaper therapy, and here we have a manipulation with them”.

Berisha-Kosumi proposes that there be a certain protocol of drug descriptions and not necessarily to be expensive and at a cost that the pocket of citizens cannot afford.

And my opinion as an anti-Condavid pharmacist should be with a certain protocol of the description of drugs and not describe any subject on the doctor's side, as there are social cases of patients, as if today that happened to me and you were written for no reason a certain therapy based on certain interests”, she concluded.
