In images provided by American television, CNN, women are heard cheering “during the women of Afghanistan”. Some of them held banners that wrote “no government can deny the presence of women” and “will sing continually for freedom”.
The Taliban also beat up some journalists reporting the protest, according to witnesses.
“We are gathered here to protest the announcement of the new government, where there is no representation of women within the government”, said a woman attending Wednesday's protest.
She said some protesters were beaten with whips. They're telling us to go home and get to know him and accept Emirat. Why should we accept Emirat, when there is no involvement or right for us”, the woman added.
According to her, some journalists reporting the protest have been arrested and called for their release.
