The Swiss newspaper “Neue Zürcher Zeitung” has written about the serious situation with the pandemic through which Kosovo is going through in recent weeks. The high percentage of sick travelers returning from Kosovo has been something to talk about in Switzerland for weeks. But what's the situation in the country itself? NZZ, explaining the situation further,
Swiss memenium writes O definition When pandemic is out of control, it applies to Kosovo. According to WHO, this proves whether in one country at least every fifth test of the coronary results positive.
In Kosovo there is an uncontrolled spread rate of the virus, as a week over 7 days before the Government takes new restrictive measures, the initiative reached the highest level during the pandemic. On August 20th, the number of positive tests had passed the 20% threshold.
Kosovo health expert Edona Deva, who works for the Community Development Fund in Pristina, told “Neue Zürcher Zeitung” that recent days have marked a slight drop in cases, but estimated that caring for patients presents a major challenge. Late last week, 1200 patients with Coddy-19 were lying in Kosovo in hospital.
Kosovo has one of Europe's worst health systems. In 2019 the government has divided only 3.5% of gross domestic production for the health system. The European average is triple higher, the NZZ writes.
Deva holds the poor health system responsible for the high number of victims. On August 29th, 36 people infected with coronarys died, which marks a record black in Kosovo.
Edona Deva's biggest problem in fighting pandemic is seen in poor efforts to limit spread and implement measures. In February, the US ambassador to Kosovo had announced centre in Washington that Kosovo is behaving as if Covid did not exist. Coffees were packed, masks were barely carried, and the vaccine campaign had not even begun. So far only 17% of the population have been fully vaccinated. Deva says authorities must address people directly with offers of inoculation.
“must go from door to door. Especially when scepticism is large”, it is expressed.
