Thousands of militants participated in a several-day operation in the mountainous province of Panjshire, declaring victory over the so-called “Lions of Panjshire”.
Earlier, jihadists had “seized” 7 districts in this region, including the capital basac, leaving behind hundreds of casualties in combat.
On Monday, the Taliban spokesman Zabhulah Mujaheded appeared in a press release confirming that the territory is already completely under Sheriat's law.
He indicated they had tried to negotiate with resistance leaders in Panjshire, but they had refused talks and therefore the situation escalated into fighting.
The Taliban spokesman urged the international community to help them rebuild Afghanistan.
He called on countries to continue humanitarian aid as he tried to assure Afghans that the situation in the country would return to normal slowly and the economy would improve. The Taliban spokesman has said domestic flights have resumed and adds that the group is waiting to see when international flights can resume.
