Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, after a meeting that took place Friday (17.09) with the EU's charge for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, said the latter said at the meeting with the president, that “nobody will ask Kosovo to negotiate its constitutionality, territorial integrity and internal functionality”. Miroslav Lajcak, paid a three-day visit to Kosovo, where he met with all Kosovo political leaders, from where he travels to Belgrade as well, in an effort to set a date for the next meeting between the parties under negotiations on normalising relations between them.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said there is still no specific date for the upcoming meeting with Serbian President Alexander Vuciq. Miroslav Lajvilak, at the conclusion of the visit to Kosovo through a written statement to the media, said that in Pristina, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has analysed the dialogue process so far and discussed the next steps, including the next <x0-level council, as well as the upcoming meeting of chief negotiators”.
Kosovo has made great progress in many areas and much of this can be directly attributed to dialogue, but just imagine the additional benefits Kosovo can have for its citizens by reaching a final agreement on comprehensive normalisation with Serbia”, EU Special Minister Miroslav Lajcak stressed.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, meanwhile, said there is no specific date for the upcoming meeting with the Serbian president, not before the summit in Slovenia between the EU and Western Balkan countries.
There will be no meeting before 6 October when we have the summit in Slovenia between the EU and six Western Balkan states, there is no specific date when our next meeting will be, while my deputy prime minister, who is responsible for the dialogue, has had meetings in Brussels, he discusses particularly details of the issue of the missing by force”, Kurti said. The Kosovo prime minister said he has already sent a letter to the leaders of European states to inform them of violations, as he says, that “Serbia is doing in trade relations with Kosovo”. Kurti warned of setting reciprocity measures against Serbia if it does not remove barriers to Kosovo goods.
“We would like Serbia to remove the barriers, there are numerous non-tariff barriers which are sometimes Sporadic in effect and are systematic. We therefore want reciprocity that Serbia removes barriers, but if reciprocity cannot be implemented by removing Serbia barriers, then it will be implemented by opposing us, not as revenge, but because we love equality”, Kurti said.
President Vjosa Osmani, in turn, said after meeting with Lajcak, that Kosovo's “institutions are determined to continue the dialogue, which should be concluded with mutual recognition between the two countries, without touching the constitutional order and territory of the Republic of Kosovo”. She stressed, that “Kosovo is the constructive side in dialogue, which is offering concrete proposals in this process, and which has implemented the agreements reached so far, in contrast with Serbia, which does not respect the agreements reached with the Republic of Kosovo”.
EU charge for Kosovo dialogue- Serbia Miroslav Lajcak from Pristina travels to Belgrade to hold dialogue talks with Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq. He, his Kosovo co-ordinator, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, has described him as a very difficult politician for dialogue, while he has sometimes accused official Pristina of not respecting the 2013 agreement to establish the Association of Serb Major municipalities. The last meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, is held on 19 July, but without any results. However, both Kosovo and Serbia are involved in the process of talks on normalising relations between them, which is the key condition for integration into the European Union. / DW
