Conference Will started: 9:30.

Shala is being charged by the Prosecutor's Office for arbitrary criminal acts, torture, cruel treatment and wartime murder.

The criminal case against Shala is in the preliminary phase, which Judge Nikola Giyu heads.

Shala is being protected by lawyers Jean-Loui Jilisen and Muhammad Hedi Awin. The first session of Shala was held on April 19, 2021, in which it was declared innocent.

Shala was arrested on March 16th 2021 by Belgian authorities and transferred to The Hague on April 15th 2021, on the basis of a request for co-operation in implementing the arrest and order for transfer issued by Kosovo's Specialised Chambers.

In the indictment confirmed on June 12, 2020, edited on April 15th 2021, the prosecution claims that Shala had committed war crimes at the metal factory in Kukes along with other KLA members.

Peter Shala along with other people, such as Sabit Geci and Xhems Krasniqi, allegedly sent various persons illegally to the cells.

Shala is accused of mistreating the occupants in this cell and beating them with various means.

According to the prosecutor, those who had been detained in the area were subjected to beatings every day with various means, such as metal bars, weapons, sticks, and knives.

It describes claims that Peter Shala, Sabit Geci and Jemsit Krasniqi had interrogated and beat a person with metal rods, baseball bats and weapons.

In fact, the detainees were said to have been brutally beaten despite being shot and one of them having had no medical help had passed away.

The Prosecutor's Office, in addition to other claims that as a result of the mistreatment of detainees at the Kukes metal factory, many victims lost consciousness, suffered bone fractures, and were covered with blood.

According to the specialised prosecutor, Shala is charged with charges of unlawful murder, torture, arbitrary detention and cruel treatment.
