This meeting has raised yet another topic of discussion whether American State Department senior official Gabriel Escobar will attend the meeting.
This, since from the US Embassy in Pristina, has been confirmed that he will participate in discussions, until from Brussels they have said there are only three sides (Kosovo, Serbia and the EU) in discussions, and that others support dialogue only from abroad.
The Express newspaper has again turned to the US Embassy in Pristina, asking about the modes of participation of Deputy Secretary of State Gabriel Escobar in discussions to be held in Brussels between Kosovo and Serbia.
A spokesman for this embassy, in a written response to Gazeta Express, has reiterated that Escobar will travel towards Brussels and that they strongly support dialogue mediated by the European Union as an interested party in these Kosovo and Serbia partners.
“We are pleased that Serbia and Kosovo will send representatives to Brussels this week for discussions, and we encourage both sides to resume openly, seriously and immediately. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Gabriel Escobar will travel to Brussels this week to participate in these discussions. While led by the parties, the United States of America strongly supports the EU-brokered dialogue as a party interested in these discussions and as Kosovo partner and Serbia”, it is also said in response.
EU spokesman Peter Stano, questioned by the Express newspaper about Gabriel Escobar's participation in discussions expected to be held in Brussels, has said there are only three sides in the dialogue -- Kosovo, Serbia and the EU -- until he said others only support dialogue from abroad.
No, sir. Escobar won't be present in the dialogue. Dialogue has 3 participants (Kosovo, Serbia and the EU). Everyone else just supports him (dialog) from outside”, Stano told Gazeta Express.
