U.S.A. clear and simple: Washington Agreement Must Be Respected

Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs of the State Department Gabriel Escobar says America supports dialogue led by the European Union. But it has also noted that the change of American administration has not left behind and has not rejected the Washington agreement reached during Trump's presidency. [...]
He has said the agreements are valid and that they believe in that agreement and have added that the Kosovo agreement should happen.
“Yes, the agreements are valid and we believe this. One thing is very interesting about Washington agreements. I wouldn't say they're worthless. We are aware that difficult political issues are being resolved through dialogue, but what we have to achieve with Washington's agreement is to create some circumstances for building trust in the field of economy”, Escobar said.
His economy is a very important topic.
“We can show that it is possible to create some co-operation without resolving the status issue. And we were successful in giving the parties a chance to know this. That is why economic peace is important to me as a measure of confidence building, as well as interethnic reconciliation. But the focus will be on dialogue and we support it”, Escobar added.
In recent months there has been no progress in dialogue, and during this week, EU High Representative for Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak will visit Pristina and Belgrade.
