Osmani before the media said party leaders disagreed over the extension of the election date.
The president said I would respect the position of party leaders, so the elections will not be postponed, but she added that this does not mean that they agree with that stance.
I wrote the institute several days ago and responded that on the basis of tests holding elections, it poses a risk to increasing cases with Covid-19, so it is recommended that the election process be postponed until further epidemiology assessment. An assessment has also been requested for the opening of schools and we have also received answers to that matter”, Osmani said.
The only way to postpone elections is to agree between the ruling and opposition parties. This is international standards, so as president of the country, I have to make decisions after consulting these subjects. Despite the recommendation of health experts, for the impact of the election process on the epidemiological situation, political parties disagreed with the postponement of elections. I'll respect that, but neither does it mean I agree with that. Election date remains the way it has been.
