All power, Taliban

All power, Taliban

Afghanistan is now a major favour. A name to that end: Appointed Interior Minister Sirajudin Hakani has been on the UN terror list since 2007. The FBI put $10 million in cash on his head. Sirajudin Hakani is considered close to al-Qaeda and is responsible for planning [...]

But what do these Taliban decisions mean for the daily lives of people in Afghanistan?

When I spoke to Afghan politician Habiba Sarabi in Qatar, she told me she felt like a <x0fie weed in water”, let go of the current. In a trembling voice, he said he is terrified of returning to his homeland because he is a politically active woman and is part of the Shiite Hazara minority. Hazars are often disfellowshipped in Sun Afghanistan. The first Taliban government (1996-2001) systematically persecuted them. In Massarir i-Sharif, 1998, a mass murder was committed.

Will Afghanistan now return to a country where women, minorities, and those who think otherwise will become invisible to survive?

A person's sense of security depends not only on it if one exercises violence immediately but also on the awareness that one can exercise violence at all times. No punishment, because it has absolute power. Fear of Damokle's sword hovers everywhere.

Habiba Sarabi, this <x0 safe grass in water”, was part of the Afghan state, which rose with the western intervention following the 11 September terrorist attacks. She has been the first mayor of a province, minister of the woman and candidate for vice president. She was part of those four women who, until a few weeks ago, negotiated with the Taliban about peace without success in Doha. But the Taliban won over the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, which Sarabi fought for, and abolished. In their Islamic beauty, women no longer have political office. Even representatives from the former Afghan order are not found in the new emirate, despite Taliban oaths that they want to establish a “Islamic inculcative system”.

The new Taliban regime is an absolute winner's government. No women. No minorities. No more. With this, Islamists make the same fatal mistake as the international community. Even, the U.S. and the allies arrogantly refused in 2001 to negotiate with losers, down Taliban.

The result is known: Afghanistan's war escalated. The US and NATO took him to Afghan villages. The civilian population paid the price. International troops withdrew as dogs after 20 years from the battlefield, and the Taliban now get drunk from winning superpowers. It is different, however, to win in battle and otherwise to govern a poor multiethnic country of 38 million people in the 21st century. There are now armed resistance. Protests of brave women and men. Fighters and demonstrators film themselves with smartphones and send videos to a global public.

The situation in Afghanistan is urgent. Millions suffer hunger and wander as refugees in their country, also eradicated because of constant drought and violence. The UN warns of a catastrophe and a large new refugee movement. International financial aid from which Afghanistan has been fully dependent after four decades of war has frozen after the Taliban's coming to power. The economy is in collapse, humanitarian aid comes with difficulty. The main priority of an Afghan government would be to help and protect its people.

But what do the Taliban do?

They end peaceful demonstrations with fierce violence, seek the decisive fight in the Panjir Valley, punish journalists, ban music, and write to students, how they should be covered. They deny the murderous acts of evidence.
