In a long interview for a Spanish media media, the pope was asked about his thoughts of revising the political map in Afghanistan following the withdrawal of American troops with their allies.
The pope said he was touched by German Chancellor Angela Merkel's words, which he described as “one of the largest political figures in the world”, reports Guardian, translated Periscopi in Albanian.
He said he would try to translate those words into Spanish: “It is necessary to put an end to the irresponsible foreign intervention policy and build democracy in faraway countries, ignoring people's traditions. ”
Although the phrase is open to interpretation, he said that <x0 felt a sense of wisdom” in Merkel's words.
The words, however, were not said by Merkel, but by Russian President Vladimir Putin last month while demanding that other states get involved in Afghanistan's policy during the Chancellor's recent visit to Moscow.
Putin had called on the West to stop the irresponsible policy of imposing foreign values from outside”. /Periscope
