Pandemia situation, could there be postponement of October 17th local elections

Postponing local elections due to the spread of Avid-19 is not considered an option. According to election system connoisseurs, the election campaign, which is set to begin on September 16th, should be held without physical presence between online platforms and videos.

A few weeks before the campaign for the 17 October local elections officially begins, election monitors estimate that holding local elections is the right way, but more respect for measures against Covid-19 compared to the February 14th elections.

Eugen Cakoli from the Kosovo Democratic Institute says that if elections are postponed, Kosovo would not be the first country to do so.

I think the most appropriate way would be for the elections to be held, but to have greater respect for measures and relevant institutions to increase checks on the gathering being held”, he told RTV21.

According to Colcol, the Health Ministry on the eve of the election campaign must make a decision not to allow large-scale citizens' activities.
