Coronervirus' Delta variation has surpassed all other variants of COVID, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday. “less than 1% currently remains in circulation from alpha, beta and gamma variants. “less than 1% currently remains in circulation from alpha, beta and gamma variants. It is indeed the delta that dominates the whole world”, said Maria Van Kerkhov, technical director for COVID-19a at the World Health Organization.

According to Mrs. Van Kerkhoveve, the delta version is so transmittable that it has replaced other variants that circulate around the world.

Hundreds of people demonstrated on Tuesday in Australia's second largest city against the corruption restrictions the government imposed on the construction industry.

Officials announced that construction shipyards in Melbourne will be closed in two weeks amid concerns that the workers' movement was contributing to the spread of COVID-19.

Construction workers are also now required to have received at least one dose of the coronary vaccine before being allowed back to work.

The state of Victoria, where Melbourne is located, reported 603 new cases Tuesday, the highest level to date of daily infection this year.

In New Zealand, Prime Minister Yacinda Ardern announced on Tuesday that fines for the deterioration of the coronary protocols will increase starting in November.

The changes will increase the fine for someone who deliberately does not respect the rules for COVID-19a, from about $2,800 to $8,400. Those violating restrictions could also face up to six months in prison.

Businesses that violate the coronary restrictions can face fines of up to $10,500.

Our “success is really based on the fact that people in general have observed the rules”, Mrs. Ardern said at a press conference. “However, there was a person who broke the rules and put the others at risk of”.

Meanwhile, Governor Jay Inslee, of the western state of Washington, asked the federal government for help to cope with the burden of hospitals, as the delta version has caused a large number of infections.

Mr. Inslee sent a letter to the White House pandemic coordinator on Monday, Jeffrey Zients, saying hospitals in his country have achieved or exceeded capacity and that he needs military personnel to help hospital staff.

“As soon as the delta version hit Washington's state, hospitalizations for COVID-19a grew”, Mr. Inslee said. “From mid - July until the end of August, we saw that hospital stays doubled every two weeks. Hospitals have been trying to add beds and cancel most of the emergency procedures, but are still on capacity throughout the state”.

New daily infections and the number of people laid down in the state of Washington have either reached or are near their highest levels during the pandemic.

State health officials Washington report that 69% of people aged 12 and up in this country are fully vaccinated.

This is higher than the national figure, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reporting that 64% of the population aged 12 and older have been fully vaccinated.

The number of new deaths from the virus in the United States was 2,302 on Monday, the highest recorded since March, according to data from the Johns Hopkins University's Coronavirus Resources Centre.
