Nikola, who has been hosted at the meeting by Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca, said that Kosovo and Albania should work harder at international forums for Serbian crimes to become world knowledge and world opinion to be convinced that Serbia has committed genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
The first of Albania's Parliament said there should be co-operation even in terms of the process of new recognitions for Kosovo, the visa liberalisation process, until it stressed that the destination of Kosovo and Albania is membership in the European Union.
“We need to co-operate at all international forums, so that we can re-volt the process of international recognition of Kosovo and work together with our partners to stop Serbia's diplomatic offensive to attracting recognitions. Just as we need to interact and work harder on all international forums so that Serbian crimes can be widely recognized and world opinion convinced that Serbia has committed genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and has been hiding criminals in search for decades. The European Union is our common destination both of Albania and of Kosovo, and our countries have no other plan, but only a plan that is one that is one of EU integration. We hope that within the Slovenian EU chairmanship Albania will host the first intergovernmental conference for opening negotiations and that Kosovo will make a positive decision on visa liberalisation to end once for all the unjust treatment being done to Kosovo citizens. Albania's tender for advancing Kosovo's European integration process, especially for visa liberalisation, has been continuous and will continue until this aspirations are realised”, she said.
Asked that since Kosovo has no seat in the UN, could it have support from Albania for the genocide indictment against Serbia to be made through it, Nicolaus said Albania would use all mechanisms that included the genocide Serbia committed in Kosovo.
“Albania will intensify and use all international bodies where it participated to enable what the Serbian genocide has done in Kosovo and all the war crimes Serbia has committed against Kosovo”, it said.
As for dialogue, Nikola said Albania appreciates reopening the dialogue and that it is encouraging full support from the new US administration for reaching a comprehensive agreement with mutual recognition.
Of course, we Albania and jointly appreciate the reopening of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue on June 15th and July 19th meeting between Prime Minister Kurti and President Vuciq in co-ordination with our strategic partners, the US and the EU. It is encouraging to have full support from President Biden's new American administration for reaching a comprehensive agreement on normalising relations with Kosovo, focused on mutual recognition. The fact that the US and the EU have no different positions on dialogue and travel that Kosovo has to do is certainly a positive incentive and a strong argument to say that Kosovo, just as it had important partners in its arms when it won the war, has them back in its arms to win even at peace”, she said.
Nikola, who made the first visit after taking office in Kosovo, said co-ordination of works and joint action with the Kosovo Assembly would be one of the priorities of her work.
Meanwhile, said they agreed with Konjuca to boost co-operation between the two countries and to instrumentalise joint meetings of the chairmans of the two states' parliamentary commissions.
On the other hand, Kosovo Parliament Speaker GLauk Konjufca said the relationship between Kosovo and Albania is in brotherly relations. He said that through each phase in which Kosovo has been through, there has been Albania at hand.
“Of course Kosovo has many challenges ahead, but since we are constantly making sure both the head of the Republic of Albania and the prime minister, even the most important political personalities of the Republic of Albania that they will always stand up to Kosovo in defense of our interests, this fills us with more courage than the future of our people wherever they live, he will be brighter than today. Because we will always get closer to each other in the years ahead because this is actually the essence of our common national interest”, he said.
Even Konjufca said there should be greater co-operation between the Kosovo Assembly and Albania's.
Albania's Parliament Speaker Lindita Nikola has invited her Kosovo counterpart Glauk Konjuca to visit Albania. Nikola during the day has also met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Pristina municipality chairman Shpend Ahmeti.
