Minister Svechla claims that the license agreement indirectly expresses the request for mutual recognition

Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs Jedal Svecla has said that by 4 October, each of Serbia's license plates will be covered by state signs. Svechla through a Facebook post said there are no better or worse signs of Serbia. “From October 4th, every sign of Serbia's vehicle [...]
Svechla through a Facebook post said there are no better or worse signs of Serbia.
From October 4th, every sign of Serbia's vehicle we cover the state sign. We don't care about the others there. There are no slightly better and slightly worse signs of Serbia. The Republic of Serbia is not recognising the Republic of Kosovo. Neither does the Republic of Kosovo recognise the Republic of Serbia. Thus, mutual recognition is needed”, the Minister Svechla points out.
The minister has also announced the number of temporary license plates issued across all border points from September 20th.
The decision on temporary license plates for Serbia's license plates, which enter Kosovo from all border points, has been implemented since September 20th. Over 12,100 license plates have been issued since then, and no incident has taken place”, Svechla writes.
Meanwhile, he said the Special Unit does not need to stay in the north, following the removal of barricades.
The agreement in Brussels today has been reached for provisional implementation of the sticker system on vehicle plates. By the 2nd of October, barricades that have been placed illegally will be removed and have blocked the free movement of our citizens for 11 days now. The Kosovo Special Police Unit, which since the first day has maintained order and security in the country, will no longer need to stay there”, says the interior minister.
He has thanked Kosovo Police members for the work they have done during these 11 days at the Jarinje and Brnjak border points.
“As the Minister of Internal Affairs, I thank each member of the Kosovo Police for their undeterred work and exemplary professionalism. They have best represented our state and the values of a society we love and aim at: equal, fair and democratic. Even reciprocity achieved today is derived from these values, so we will continue it”, writes Svechla.
Otherwise, Kosovo and Serbia have reached agreement in Brussels regarding reciprocity for license plates. That has been made known, EU Special Representative for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.
Lajcak has said the deal has been reached after two intensive days of discussions between the two sides.
The deal is expected to take effect on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Under the deal, Special Unit troops in the north will be replaced by KFOR troops.
The main points of this agreement are the following:
On October 2nd, the Special Unit, currently at the Jarinje and Brnjak border points, will leave and at the same time leave the roadblocks, starting at 8: 00 p.m., but not later than 4: 00 p.m. KFOR will be located at Jarinje and Brnjak before the start of the synchronized withdrawal of Special Units and barricades, and will stay there nearly two weeks to provide quiet and secure environments, as well as enable free movement.
By 4 October, at 08am, the temporary implementation of the posters system, with which both Kosovo and Serbia will cover each other's state-run license components.
A working group consisting of EU, Belgrade and Pristina representatives, led by the EU, will be formed to find a final solution about plates, based on EU standards and practices. The first meeting of this group will be held on 21 October 2021 in Brussels. Within six months of the first meeting, the working group will present the findings for the final settlement to high-level representatives in the dialogue process.
