As German government spokeswoman Martina Fietz announced, the Chancellor will also meet in Belgrade representatives of civil society from the six Western Balkan countries. In Tirana, aside from Albania's prime minister, Edi Rama, she will meet in bilateral talks, as well as the leaders of the governments of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia.
Common Regional Market
Asked by DW for the Chancellor's expectations on this trip, German government deputy Martina Fietz stressed that the Chancellor will talk about “Regional Common Trade.” She recalled that all Western Balkan countries have pledged at their latest virtual conference, led by Chancellor Merkel, on July 5th of this year, that they will be committed to its implementation.
Fietz said this would be the subject of the talks, without further coming into detail for the Chancellor's stance about the latest initiative of three Balkan leaders -- Rama, Zaev, Vuciq, called the Balkan Open.
