Lindita Nikola has been elected Albania's new Speaker of the Assembly. The new MPs approved this Friday at the second session of the X legislature, Nikolla's appointment at parliament's helm. Nicolaus received 79 votes in favour.
For Nicholas, DP deputies did not vote. All in a row, led by Lulzim Basha, tore out the ballot sheets in the middle of the Parliament's Hall in opposition to the majority.
After this action, however, President Edi Rama also made his symbolic move. He collected all ballot sheets torn and put them in a bag.
It was Prime Minister Rama, the one who announced a week ago that Lindita Nikola will head the affairs of the Parliament. He valued her as a woman with a special contribution and an example of commitment to honesty in carrying out all duties.
Lindita Nikola comes to the helm of parliament after the April 25th elections. It is expected to have a difficult task, as after two years it has returned to the Parliament and the opposition, and it is expected that the hearings will be filled with debate and political rhetoric.
