Kurti faced sharp criticism of archives and KLA statements

Opening the debate over Kosovo's state archives is dangerous for Kosovo's history, considering opposition parties in the country, under which Kosovo Government statements about the subject of archives and KLA are unacceptable. Democratic Party of Kosovo Parliamentary Group chief Abelard Tahiri has said Serbia's discours are [...]

The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo Parliamentary Group, Abelard Tahiri, has said Serbia's discours are returning to Kosovo through Kosovo government officials.

“As long as we are alive we have without continued efforts by Serbian officials, today those who are currently, tomorrow, to corrupt our clean war, because from that war Serbia today has no presence in Kosovo, and this is a great plague for Serbia, so even today our government will come into this trap to open such a discussion, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo can't sincerely believe that today our prime minister speaks with such a language about archives, the war of the KLA. I agree that we have nothing to hide, but on the other hand we do not allow ourselves to fall into the discours of Serbia speaking in their language for the Kosovo Liberation Army”, Tahiri has said.

Alliance for the Future of Kosovo MP chief Besnik Tahiri, stressing that the KLA archives do not exist, has said Prime Minister Albin Kurti has made a mistake on this subject and should seek forgiveness for it.

We have open processes in the Special Court today and we want to open archives, people, what archives, they don't exist, the real archive is known, what Serbia wants to do at the table is equal, for this reason accuracy is extremely important for a state, on this subject it's indisputable that it's a big mistake, they have to apologize and on this subject if they don't know it's good with people themselves, Tahir said.

While the head of the Democratic League of Kosovo Parliamentary Group, Arben Gashi, has said the Kosovo government should engage experts dealing with transitional justice.

The archive issue is not just the issue of the Kosovo Liberation Army, but it is more comprehensive and requires expert commitment, and I think that we should particularly engage transitional justice experts to see that it doesn't produce more problems than solutions. I propose to the Government of Kosovo to engage experts dealing with transitional justice and to deal with this” theme, Gashi has said.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who has said Serbia is what needs to be opened, since Kosovo is transparent and has nothing to hide.

We have our state archives, which include them during the war and all the evidence and materials that are KLA. We need to clear the fate of the found, we have 1630, and that's why we need to open archives in Belgrade. ...from 1999 onward we've been under international administration, we've had UNMIK, we had EULEX, we have had The Hague Tribunal, so more transparent and more open than Kosovo does, what should now really be opened is Serbia. Genocide in Bosnia and Kosovo requires that the truth be dawned, so that both officers and executioners can be known, and, first of all, the fate of those lacking”, Kurti said.

The debate over KLA archives and history has started last week after Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi returned from the Brussels meeting and announced that the Serbian side has agreed in principle to open its archives, but that the same has continued with its request to open even the “archies of the KLA”.

In this regard, Bislim has stated that he has invited the European Union's emissary for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, to visit Kosovo's state archives, which are part of the KLA's activities.
