Vetevendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti, in an interview given in September last year on the “show D ESUK” of KTV had shown that preparations for domestic party elections had begun. Kurti said that through the election process at the party, it would prove that it is possible to hold elections even at the country level, even though in the pandemic situation.
Kurti said the disinfectant masks would be used until he mentioned holding elections in South Korea and various Balkan countries to support his request for holding them.
“We have started the process of internal elections in Vetevendosje Movement. Even if we do this election issue as a test, we will testify that it is possible to keep, in masks and disinfectants. From South Korea, which is under way in Balkan countries, it was found to be feasible, and I think that elections should be held in Kosovo”, Kurti had declared.
Further, the demand for holding elections argued with the fact that his party was well in the polls at the time, and said other parties did not want to hold them since they are not as much as 1/3 of VVCE support.
“Even LDK and PDK are not even in 1/3 of support as LVV. They know these polls, so they don't want the elections. That's the problem, because they're aware of what Kurt said.
In this interview, Kurti had spoken as an opposition, after having collapsed from power as a result of the coalition's collapse with the Democratic League of Kosovo.
But when local elections have approached today, Kurti's number two party, Glauk Konjufca, has brought the idea of delaying the elections to public.
By the opposition, this Konjufca idea has been sharply opposed, until they have said it is indications the VV is afraid of the elections.
Until efforts to postpone elections have already begun. President Osmani has invited political party leaders to the meeting to discuss report I Naser Ramadan's KSHPK, which recommends delaying local elections, arguing it poses a risk of worsening the pandemic situation.
