Following the tightening of anti-Convidian measures, Kosovo Police through September 5th have imposed over 22,000 fines and has given over 7 thousand and 500 remarks. Kosovo Police spokesman Bucky Kelani in a statement for Online Economy said that under the operational order through shopping centres, measures have also been pronounced for physical persons and anyone who has not respected the measures.

The operative “has envisioned several steps of the Kosovo police, in addition to the added presence, has been part of police officials' engagements in shopping centres and locations where there is greater participation, in squares and visits that are in property. Based on all these activities of the Kosovo police, including the part of sensibility by delivering numerous messages and statements to respect measures in public health interest, we have also imposed fines”.

“From August 30th to September 5th, over 22 thousand fines have been declared, these 22 thousand fines belong to physical persons, but to legal persons who are businesses. Besides pronunciation the fines we've given over 7 thousand and 500 remarks. Kosovo police are not aimed at punishing citizens, but at preventing the spread of pandemic and senbilisation of citizens”.

Kelan also talked about extending hours to 12 hours for police officials, stressing that they are active on the ground and at different locations to implement anti-Convid measures, EO reports.

We are already implementing the operational order, an order which was drafted at the central level and distributed to all regional police directors to implement this operational order. Police officials are working 12 hours in order to have more staff on the ground and more active personnel and to appear in different locations, squares, intersections and facilities where more space is frequented by citizens, and implementation is being carried out properly”, he stressed.

Co-operation with other institutions, in this case with the Ministry of Health and Inspectorate, he says they are very good at it, with the sole aim of protecting from the pandemic being at the right level.

“Yes, it is true that the Kosovo police are very engaged and officials are working longer hours, what can be done without bypassing their work. We have good co-operation with all institutions in defence of pandemic be they from the Ministry of Health, and with others to achieve the right target on the ground”, he concluded.
