Johnson for four-day visit to United States

Great Britain Prime Minister Boris Johnson is due to leave today for a four-day visit to the US, where he will meet with world leaders at the UN General Assembly on September 21st and will call for urgent action to prevent climate change before the COP26 summit, to be held in November, [...]
Johnson, along with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, will expect a meeting on climate change, the AP reported.
He will also visit the White House for the first time since Joe Biden took up the post of US president.
With about 100 world leaders expected in New York at the UN General Assembly, Johnson will seek to promote actions during a series of high-level meetings.
Downing Street said it would focus on supporting developing countries to ease the impact of the climate crisis, as well as adapting to its consequences.
The COP26 summit is widely seen as crucial if climate change is brought under control. It is the moment when world leaders will discuss whether the historic agreement in Paris has been reached sufficiently since the 2015 climate, reports the BBC.
Scientists say that to avoid the worst climate impacts, carbon emissions must be cut by 45% by 2030, but the UN's latest analysis shows that trends are heading in the wrong direction. In current national policies, emissions could increase by 16% in this period.
This could lead to an increase in a 2.7C temperature over pre-industrial times.
Meanwhile, the climate has already warmed dangerously, with deadly temperatures, wild fires, and floods, with a temperature increase of just one degree Celsius at the moment.
