Draghi said on Thursday that fortunately many Afghans have fled, but the state of Italy wants to find those who co-operate with Italy.
Before Italy finished its withdrawal from Kabul on August 27th, it evacuated approximately 5 thousand Afghans who worked with the Italian Army during their 20-year stay in Afghanistan.
They have evacuated their families as well as others considered at risk under Taliban rule.
Draghi has not shown how many Afghans the state of Italy is asking. He added that Afghans who have already arrived in Italy have immediately received refugee status.
The Taliban in Afghanistan celebrated Tuesday after the last troops of the United States left the country, marking the end of the 20-year war.
Their return to power forced the states of the West to evacuate their citizens and Afghans who feared revenge and Taliban after working with foreign forces within the state. / REL
