Italy arrests former Catalonian president, may extradite him to Spain

The long-standing former president of the region has tried to be independent of Spain had fled the country after the referendum. He began living in Belgium and is a European Parliament deputy.
His lawyer said Puigdemont is expected to appear in a court Friday and could be extradited, the BBC writes, broadcast the Express newspaper.
Puigdemont initially had immunity from prosecution after being elected European Parliament MP in 2019, but that immunity was lifted in March.
His office said the politician was arrested at Alghero Airport on Thursday afternoon. Puidgemont had travelled to Italy to attend a festival of Catalonas folklore, his lawyer said.
