Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi's statement that they have agreed with Serbia to open state archives, including those of the KLA, sparked harsh reactions in Kosovo. Most of the reactions concerned the fact that the KLA does not have archives because it has waged liberation wars. The former military man, Nuredin Ibishi, known as “Condant Leka”, is seeing the Bislimi declaration for this process as a hasty step.
Ibishi says this topic is sensitive, and every time according to him, Serbia has made such instructions. “We don't have the situation as the states of the former Yugoslavia have, which have had a contribution to keeping the archives, so we're late in this situation, such as creating Kosovar Intelligence but also the archive system itself or grading documentation. Anyway, I find it a pressing step of government and it needs to think a lot about it. It is a very sensitive issue and should be taken seriously that Serbia makes such instructions and gives nothing”.
We haven't done enough to specifically have these properly arranged archives. I think that in relation to Serbs, I think it's a quick step because the Serbian side takes, and nothing gives as counterservice”, Ibishi tells EO. In an interview for Online Economy, Ibishi says Serbia will be prepared at the opening of their archives, the same as did the Kosovo side's request for providing cadastral documentation.
I believe the Serbian side is very much prepared in what will open up from those archives, and the Kosovar side usually opens it all. So it was with civil documents and cadastral records, and we've seen what fatal mistakes we've made in the negotiation phase. So I don't think that we have enough area to be able to access these talks, especially Serbia, where it has to do with exchange of archive material”, he said. E All of this, according to Ibishi, is being done to gain time on the part of Serbia, however, says the approach of Kosovo institutions to this topic will be a loss for Kosovo. He claims that Kosovo is definitely at odds in this process, while we will succeed losers as in past processes. “Serbia has always made procrastinating the process of recognition to gain favors, and in this case it will act the same. I think that this is inconsistent and immature on the part of our government, to enter these steps and prepare ad-hoc... so that every time Kosovo is going to be lost in relation to Kosovo, which will go through selectively and I will give it what is known in the opinion, which has been judged processes. We're definitely at a disadvantage in this process, and we're going to lose as in the past” processes, he said.
On Thursday, Kurti's deputy, Besnik Bislimi, has said he has agreed with the Serbian side to open all archives, including those of Kosovo dealing with the KLA, EO reports.
