Ahmeti stresses that since the beginning of the pandemic, fires at the COVID 19 departments are a frequent phenomenon worldwide.
The large amount of oxygen in these departments and the possibility of its flow could cause fire that would have catastrophic consequences. An electric spark is enough and the fire will spread rapidly because of the high oxygen in the air”, he says.
According to him, the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, but even regional hospitals in the country, have many units with COVID19, so as a result in those departments there are also large amounts of oxygen that are necessary for treating patients.
“Control of the state of these oxygen devices, as well as the way they are used, should be permanent and strict in order to prevent any major tragedy from fires at these health institutions, as the recent tragic event at Tetovo Hospital is supposed to be.
These health institutions must also implement all the laws in force regarding job safety, as well as meet all the criteria for fire protection and possible fire prevention”.
