Doubt of coming option “MU” of COVID in Kosovo: 282 samples sent to Germany

Earlier this week, the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo sent 282 samples to a laboratory in Germany for detecting new versions of COVID-19, respectively, of the Colombian mutation “mu”. The results of these samples are expected to be announced over the next week. But health experts are considering that [...]

The results of these samples are expected to be announced over the next week. But health experts are considering that the option “Mu” is more contagious and more secret, so it takes into account the percentage of vaccine in Kosovo warning a new wave of infection during the fall.

Microbiologist Dzevat Jakupi of the National Institute of Public Health says this institution does not have the capacity for tracking new variants of COVID-19, so at the beginning of this week they sent samples to Germany, whose results will show whether Kosovo is affected or not by the Colombian variant.

He said sending these samples to Germany is being done through the European Union's Center for Disease Control.

“Brenda I The KSHP does not have the capacity to sequence SARS-COV2 genome for this reason we samples occasionally send out of Kosovo to the labs with which we have agreement to that end. 1,31 earlier this week, on Monday, September 6th, we have launched another 282 samples for sequence detection variants that will then result in information about what variants are now in circulation. We naturally plan to use this programme to the maximum and over the next few weeks, we will send back samples outside Kosovo. [...] We have no information on whether or not they have arrived yesterday or have been able to arrive today, so it is early to complete the sequence process for 282 samples that have been submitted, expected in the following few days, we believe the results will be received next week”, he stressed.

Microbiologist Jakupi says the National Institute for Public Health cannot detect SARS-COV2 variants as they lack equipment but also experts in the field.

Jakupi from the IKSHP Department of Microbiology says equipment purchases are already under way that will enable the detection of new variants in our country in the coming months.

“We haven't had equipment to carry out this process of work, and during the past year we started buying equipment, we bought some of the necessary equipment, within this year we've started another process of buying equipment that has been missing in addition to what we've secured in the preceding year, and this tender process has lasted a long time. [...] We in Kosovo at the moment do not have experts for sequenceing so we need to be trained by zero, we have a complete lack of a lemia called bioinformatic experts and we will have to consider the possibility of how to overcome this deficiency through the training of microbiologists or similar barks that will be able to get knowledge of”, Jakupi said.

The “mu”, according to health professionals, is more dangerous and deadly, so they require more massive vaccination of Kosovo citizens.

The president of the Federation of Albanian Doctors in Europe, Aurora Dollenberg, estimates that autumn can find Kosovo, but other Western Balkan countries, in a new wave of infection that will cause the Colombian variant.

“Two main pillars have protection against new versions and the first is inoculation, second is the continuation of the protective measures of both mask, social distance, hygiene, each state is classified by the risk it has against new variants based on the sequences of vaccines that have populations and on the basis of discipline that every people has. And in both of these columns, whether for the percentage of vaccine, or for the discipline to save from infection Kosovo is not that it is standing in the first places on the list in Europe, but rather on the last list we know that the percentage of vaccines is less than 20%, and the population especially in the summer months where there have been celebrations, tourists who have come from abroad speak of a not too high-level prognosis in autumn, so that if Kosovo and other Balkan countries should be especially pre-pretent for a fourth wave of <ohl>

Family medicine specialist Dollenberg for Kosova Prerss says that the variant “Mu8x1> is easier and more hidden to identify.

<x) [...] Symptoms caused by the option "Mu ' are not very typical, are similar to a very mild cold, which from the moment on deteriorates without the possibility of the doctor or even the family's hospital hospitalization and the treatment of” is expressed.

Infectologist Arben Visaj says the possibilities are for even Kosovo citizens to be infected with the “Mu”. As he says, climateists are making the necessary preparation for the prevention and control of this new mutation.

The task of the director of the Infectious Clinic stressed that the vaccine is the only weapon not to face new mutations to be contracted by COVID-19.

“We haven't yet identified this version, but an opportunity of coming even this variant exists and we're preparing to be as functional as possible in terms of activating all of our staff in preventing and controlling the disease. [... 07\40 What is known and which is important is that the application of preventative measures against epidemiology have scientific support, it should also be strengthened much more and the immunization of the population in general should be as massive as possible, and we can not leave our destiny with the mercy of the genetic transformations of COVID, but we will mobilise our capacities in respect of epidemiological measures and in the greatest inocation of the population that is possible since this gives us the guarantee that in the future we are not faced with severe waves what we are now facing, he says to them.

The Vailant Muhue was first discovered in Colombia in January of this year. This version has spread to 43 countries while O epidemiology report The BSH says the preliminary data shows that MU appears to be more resistant to antibodies.
