While the COVID-19 pandemic caused recommendations for postponing elections and recommendation for cutting the campaign. But Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, after the meeting he held with political parties, has declared that, in the absence of consensus by political parties, there will be no postponement of the local election date and that they will be held on 17 October.
Nevertheless, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Chairman Ramush Haradinaj has announced that he has decided that the conventional campaign for local elections holds in only five days.
Haradinaj said the decision on this came after the serious epidemiological situation with COVID-19.
As of September 15th, voting by post for exiles has begun. The Central Election Commission (KQZ) has also approved the exact number of ballots to be printed for the October 17th elections.
On election day, 1 million and 698 thousand and 600 ballots will be available on October 17th for mayoral candidates, while the same will be for municipal assemblies.
So why is the number of citizens who are eligible to vote 1 million and 885 thousand, The CEC has printed 186 thousand of 848 ballots less than voters or percentage point 9,91 % and this is a practice followed even in past election processes
