Former Education Minister Shyqi Bytyqi is viewing as populist the removal of fees for students in higher education from the Kurti Government.
He said those tools could be used to increase the quality rather than the number of students, which he says even the average is high.
“I wish it could start as political administrative instruction issues signed by the minister. I continue to believe that populist decisions must stay away from education, because they harm it. I have hoped that the current government will not have these actions and will not be part of the damage to quality in education, because there is no need for higher education for such actions.
High Education in Kosovo needs to raise quality and does not need populist actions dealing with electoral issues. The ruling party has taken advantage of local elections that do not affect raising quality in higher education
We have mechanisms for quality growth. If we take an average of higher education in Europe, we like Kosovo are with the highest average youth in higher education. We needed incentives to support those in higher education, but we needed to create conditions for our young people that really in higher education get the training and education needed to be able to serve as frameworks for our country and first for themselves and their family”.
In fact, there are many other possibilities that probably with the same funding, but without populism and without just thinking about the electoral part to help students who need financial support. Raising stock funds that would also stimulate a higher quality”.
The Bytyqi in Info Magazine said that even so far there has been no high and affordable cost to students, but symbolic.
