One of the toughest races being held for mayor is that for the first of Mitrovica.
Candidate of PDK for chairman Bedri Hamza, with current Mitrovica chairman Agim Bahtiri, who is trying to become chairman for the third time, are the main rivals.
Hamza and Bahtiri as personalities are extremely different, writes Periscopi.com.
Bedri Hamza is a prominent intellectual, successful minister and one of the best economists and financers Kosovo and the region have. He's been in politics for over 20 years and so far has no black spot on his career.
Hamza's candidacy for Mitrovica chairman has been well received by Mitrovicas, who seem to be seeing it as a vital chance to get Mitrovica out of the situation it has become the poorest municipality in Kosovo.
On the other hand, his counterconvention, Agim Bahtiri, whom polls take to disadvantages in relation to Hamza, is primarily known only for his scandals, for numerous failures in government, for ridiculous promises, but also for bringing Mitrovica municipality on the eve of “falmation<1> due to numerous public debts.
Bahtiri has recently been charged by a fellow party of him even with immorality, on direct charges that the municipality has turned into his own personal harem, employing young girls in Mitrovica administration.
Aware that he is at a disadvantage, Bahtiri is currently exploiting his entire clientist network that has benefited from his government, including the media close to him to attack Hamza, especially by trying to connect him with other figures outside Mitrovica, who do not enjoy such a good reputation among the citizens of Mitrovica.
However, this divisive propaganda, with which Bahtiri has won the elections last time, appears to be not being conceived this time with Hamza, who even has over 90 percent of her candidates ' new figures, well educated young people and without political mortgages in the past.
This disadvantage of Agim Bahtiri versus Bedri Hamza is also being seen on social networks, especially if they compare their Facebook accounts.
Bahtiri has Facebook accounts that a few years ago and on his official page there are over 24 thousand followers, but he's getting less consent than Hamza, who opened his official Facebook page two weeks ago and currently has only about 7,000 followers.
Even though Bahtiri has three times as many followers as Hamza, all Hamza's posts result in more enjoyable than Bahtiri's, which testify to even a much greater preference for Hamza in this election race.
Local elections are held on October 17th, 2021, and for the first time in the history of elections in Mitrovica, they can bring out the winner in the first round. /Periscope. com/
