It's not clear how many people have been hurt. Russian police say the attacker has been arrested.
Russia's Official Investigation Committee says the attacker was a university student, reports the BBC.
The incident occurred at Perm State University, located about 1,300 miles [1,300 km] east of Moscow's capital.
