Svechla indicated that 467 Afghans have already been accommodated in Kosovo so far.

He added that with NATO's help, the necessary conditions for the initial accommodated have been offered.

Svechla has said that in this process there is a great need for the support of international organisations that are located in Kosovo and has therefore invited them to see their opportunities to assist in this important process, as well as to establish the right channels of communication and co-ordination.

Kosovo's “government has responded positively to the US government and NATO's request to temporarily accommodate Afghan citizens. We have pledged to offer dignified conditions of accommodation, to make their stay in Kosovo as easy as possible. However, the need for support of foreign organisations is also very important for us”, Svechla stressed.

While representatives of international organisations in Kosovo stressed their readiness to help, based on the identified needs and opportunities, Kosovo institutions and international partners in the process.

Also discussed at the meeting were the mode with which Kosovo institutions will operate, about the housing of Afghan citizens, always guaranteeing all their rights by law, including the new social life they will have during their stay in Kosovo.
