The attack took place in Collierville on Thursday afternoon, about 250 miles [56 km] east of the city of Memphis. Police from nearby circles have arrived at the Kroger food store to help with the investigation.
The attacker, who is a male, died on the scene from alleged self-inflicted shooting.
“is the most terrible event that took place in the history of collierville”, the police chief said.
A vehicle believed to belong to the attackers is still in the car park, the chief said. Investigators are expecting more equipment in order to inspect the vehicle safely, “and some properties that are above it”, he said, referring to the killers.
Some of the twelve wounded have suffered a very serious “disaster”, he said, and one died at the scene. Swast officers went “line up, room in the room, cleaning up, and extracting employees who had been hiding”, he continued.
“We found people hiding in refrigerators, closed offices”, the police chief added. Police have not yet identified the attacker.
