Ghan left Kabul hours before the Taliban took control of the capital without war on August 15th, and Saleh went to the province of Panshire and two days later was declared a legitimate descendant of Ghan.
With the support of the son of national hero Ahmad Shah Masood, who was killed 20 years ago, Saleh now uses the Valley in Panshire as a base of which organises a resistance movement against Islamists from Kabul, reports “Spiegel”
At the same time, talks are under way in Kabul between members of the former government and the Taliban.
Saleh sent a letter to Spiegel's journalist Susan Kelble through the CHSapp app for <x0) security reasons, because calls, as he said, are very dangerous, given that they can be traced.
On three pages, Saleh looks at the overthrow of Ghan's government and predicts the fall of the Taliban, calling America “naive”
Geographically, we are isolated, but Afghanistan is with us politically and morally. The Taliban never believed in a political agreement. They benefited from the invisibility, weakness and lightiness of the White House under Donald Trump and Joseph Biden,” wrote Saleh.
