The Vetevendosje Movement, the Centre in Albania, has today conducted a symbolic action against Serbian musician Goran Bregovic's participation in the Beer Festival in Korca.
“Bregovic dayre genocide” was symbolic of this action being held on the “Republic”, in Korca.
The party's announcement reportedly organised the action in solidarity with 20 families associations of missing persons during the genocide Serbia committed in Kosovo.
“Movement Centre ENVENVED! In Albania today, a symbolic action of awareness in the centre of the city of Korca has been organised, placing a long banner with the words “Bregovic date the genocide”, on the “Republic”. The event was organised in solidarity with 20 families associations of missing persons' families during the genocide Serbia committed in Kosovo, which have asked the Korca municipality to cancel the invitation at the “Beer Party” of the controversial musician Goran Bregovic. The event also took place in support of the boycott that many Albanian artists from all trains have held to this holiday, as the Korca municipality has refused to cancel its invitation to Bregovic”, the report said.

Bregovic “day” genocide
Centre of Movement V ENVENTION! In Albania today, a symbolic action of awareness in the centre of the city of Korca has been organised, placing a long banner with the words “Bregovic date genocide”, on the “Republic”. The event was organised in solidarity with 20 families associations of missing persons' families during the genocide Serbia committed in Kosovo, which have asked the Korca municipality to cancel the invitation at the “Beer Party” of the controversial musician Goran Bregovic. The event also took place in support of the boycott that many Albanian artists from all trains have held to this holiday, as the Korca municipality has refused to cancel its invitation to Bregovic.
We remember that the controversial musician Bregovic never raised his voice during Milosevic's apartheid in Kosovo, but took the time to organise a concert against NATO intervention next to the KLA. Moreover, Kosovo Albanians, who were victims of Serbia's genocide, still remember well how Serbia's army and paramilitaries carried out their massacres against Albanians by being inspired by Bregovic's songs. Its concerts have been cancelled by organisers in other states of the world, following Russia's praise positions at the concert held in Russia's occupied crime. Bregovic, through his music and attitudes, has served and serves as sheep bark that covers Serbian shoven nationalism. Serbia has not regretted its crimes, is run by war criminals and continues to target further expansion in the region with projects such as “Open Balkans”. To worse, Serbia performs today's ethnic cleansing of Albanians in the Presevo Valley.
There can be no coincidence that the dates of the Beer Fest in Belgrade match the dates of the Beer Fest in Korca (18-22 August). It opened in Belgrade last night by Bregovic, the one in Korca is expected to close yes from Bregovic. It is true that the Bregovic Yugonostalgjik held concert in Albania earlier in 2006, and was honoured by Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the time of mayor, with the “Chelsin of Tirana”. Bregovic has been honoured with medals this year even by Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucic. Since 2006, however, Albanian national consciousness has increased in the people more than in the corrupt Albanian rulers. Albanians are much more informed and connected.
As a nation, it would be hypocritical to share only international joys, medals, and gratitude, without being solidified sharing suffering. Together we shared suffering and found ourselves in the war in Kosovo, but even later after the earthquake in Albania and now during the fires that burned thousands of hectares. We require awareness and national co-operation in all fields, towards unity.
