While thousands of Afghans are leaving the country, Turkey has announced it is building a wall along its border with Iran to prevent a possible new influx of refugees from Afghanistan.
The obstacle will be 295km long when it is completed, fortified with thorn-and-logged wire, according to an AFP report, the BBC writes.
“We will intensify our jobs and reinforce our understanding that our borders are unalterable “, said Defence Minister Julius Akar, according to a Hurriyet Daily report.
A large part of it has been completed. About 150 kilometers of trench have been dug. Additional reinforcements have been made at our border points and base areas”, he added.
