The situation with pandemics in Kosovo is worsening, where the numbers of the infected are constantly increasing, with cases only during yesterday's day have resulted in positive more than 2,000 citizens.
Infectologist Ilir Tolaj has said the country is facing the fourth wave of pandemic, which, according to him, is becoming more intense in the number of new cases on a daily basis.
About the situation with the Delta variant, Tolaj has said it is proving what has already become known to the world, that the Delta version infections spread faster than by far - reaching infections.
“It is an indication that the percentage of hospitalizations of these Delta variant infections are lower compared to other variants, but that now, in the fourth wave, young people are mostly getting sick, who in most cases are going without symptoms or being treated in domestic conditions, Tolaj said.
Because those who have been vaccinated only one dose are immune to this option, one dose of the vaccine protects in a lower percentage than the immunity created by two doses of vaccines.
“depending on the type of vaccines, the defence is driven by 35-40%. But even this is better than being completely unexplored”, has added Tolaj.
Asked what the prevailing version in Kosovo is, the infection has stressed that in the country now they are fully conquering the infections caused by variant Delta. Thus, it is the situation in the entire northern hemisphere of the globe.
In the risk of showing another viral mutation, Tolaj has indicated that some viruses experience more frequent and faster mutations, and some less rare and slower, so it says, the causing virus of COVID-19 is not among the viruses that experience frequent and fast clinical mutations.
But, of course, if we don't quickly create the proper level of collective immunity, now, after the release of the delta version, it's going to be 90%, which will disrupt the circulation of the virus around the world, then there will be new mutant variants of COVID-19<1>, Tolaj said.
He also believes that we will witness the continuation of this wave for a certain period of time, new waves are not caused together.
Tolaj has suggested that people vaccinated can be infected with a virus again and, in certain cases, can also transmit the virus to others for several days. But this scenario, according to him, is limited, while the efficiency of these people is less than those who were infected and who were previously not vaccinated.
All the up-to-date vaccines are effective even against delta variant. The vaccines that will be produced in the future will certainly be linked with potential points against this variant and other possible”
So according to the infection, Ilir Tolaj, it is important that as many people be vaccinated as possible. /Kankosova/
