“Turkey is a country with which we want to build close relations. We want Erdogan to respect us. Turkey is a country that expects many Afghans and a country with which we want close relations. We do not see Turkey as an enemy, but as an ally”, he said.
In statements apparently made before Kabul fell into the hands of the Taliban, Jacob said the new regime's desire to establish relations with Afghanistan's Islamic Emirati with any country that recognises it, clarifying that they would not allow the presence of foreign forces in the country.
