A few weeks before the parliamentary elections in Germany, the Social Democrats (SPD), with their candidate for Chancellor Olaf Scholz, rank by little margin after ecologists, the Christian Democrats lead. Who will succeed Angela Merkel? At the end of 2020, polls spoke of a clear victory for the Christiandemocrat Union (CDU) and the Christian Christian Christian Civil Party (CSU), which nominated Chancellor Armin Laschet in April. Based on the results of the surveys for months, all figures in the figure talked about a coalition between Christian Democrats and ecologists. These two parties reached 57 per cent together. Even in May, when there was a weakening of the conservative union, which in regular surveys conducted with the Institute for Research of Opinion „Infraratt dimap”, listed after ecologists, the main question posed was: Will Angela Merkel Christian Democrat Armin Laschet, or Chancellor Annalena Baerbock, inherit the Chancellor's candidate for Chancellor Annalena Baerbock, since 2005?

While now three months later and a few weeks before the polls have changed: polls currently point to a 46 per cent quota for the Christian Democrat and ecologist party together. And that's exactly what the SPD parties, Liberal Democrats (FDP), Alternative for Germany ( AfD) and the Left Party. So currently more than any other time the parties have to wonder, what coalition can create to govern together.
A direct choice in favour of Olaf Scholz
Suddenly even the Social Democrat candidate for Chancellor Olaf Scholz has more hope of running a possible coalition with ecologists and liberal-democratics. Only three points divide it in polls by the ecologist party and along with the FDP they could theoretically establish a governing coalition. If this trend continues in favour of the SPD and the conservative union loses even more points, eventually a broad-based coalition between the SPD and the CDU/ CSU's. But if the parties again found common language regarding concepts of governance, it is another issue.
If the Germans could choose Chancellor or Chancellor directly, Olaf Scholz would lead. Asked in that form, it turns out that Scholz is taking a convincing lead in the polls with 35 per cent against Armin Laschet with 29 per cent, and Annalena Baherbock with 16 per cent. This advantage comes out even more clearly with the question, how satisfied electors are with the work of these three politicians: Scholz is estimated at 48 per cent, while Baherbock is valued with 27 and Laschet with 24.
75 percent say: Merkel has been a good Chancellor

Angela Merkel continues to be the favorite politician in the electorate. She has been ranked first in this category for years, even now at the end of her fourth term of assessment for her, with 66 per cent. The 16-year-old Chancellor in the post has widely supported the people. 75 per cent think, that Christian Democrat politician has been a good Chancellor.

Angela Merkel enjoys great support even among the supporters of other parliamentary parties, except the AfD. Over two thirds of respondents think Angela Merkel is competent, able to guide, reliable, and charming. Those with which 67-year-olds will continue to rule Germany until the successor or successor has been voted in Bundestag. /DW
