Kosovo has pledged to accept a considerable number of Afghan refugees. The Student Centre in Pristina has also been mentioned as an opportunity for their deployment.

However, that is contrary to the students.

The Student Parliament through a reaction has to know that there are over 4 thousand students expected to be placed in dormitories this year, so they reject the idea that this centre will be transformed into a stand-up camp for Afghans.

“Student Parliament is flatly opposed to placing refugees in student dormitories, there are enough places where they can be deployed and camps created. We call on AugustI to cancel this initiative, otherwise there will be legitimate student reactions, to protect our students”, said among other things in the SP's response.

The SP says it is for refugee admission in Kosovo, but not in student spaces.

This is the complete response of the UP's Student Parliament:

PARLAMENTY The government rules. REFUGEW SET E WRITER IN COVICE

On the part of the media, we have received information that the Students Centre is expected to turn into a camp of Afghan refugees who are coming to Kosovo. We have not received any information from the relevant institutions on this, and this is not the first time that the senior student body is being skipped.

We are absolutely for the admission of Afghan refugees to the Republic of Kosovo, since as we have tradition and culture, we never turn people back in need. History itself even reminds us that we were in their skin during the Kosovo War.

But to make decisions on the eve of the start of the new academic year, now when there are nearly 30 days before the regular start of the academic year, for students to be excluded from the possibility of staying in dormitories, this is unacceptable. Over 4,000 students placed in those dormitories, and if 1 student per room is deployed, then about 1,400 students will remain without residence in Pristina.

The Student Centre is founded for exclusive residential/food needs of Pristina University students, so don't deny us the right to use something that belongs to us, don't leave thousands of students on the streets.

The Student Parliament flatly opposes the deployment of refugees to student dormitories, there are enough places where they can be deployed and camps created. We call on AugustI to cancel this initiative, otherwise there will be legitimate student reactions to protect our students.
