Six people, including a child, were killed by massive shootings in the town of Plymouth in southwest England on Thursday evening, in an incident described by British Interior Secretary as UN Security.
Two women and three men, including the suspect, died from gunshot wounds at the scene, police said in a statement.
Another female died a short time later in the hospital, the police added.
One of the people killed was a child under 10 years of age, said Luke Pollard, a local lawmaker from the opposition Labour Party, in a Twitter post.
Police had earlier described the shooting as a serious “firearm incident” and said the situation was controlled. Police added that the incident had nothing to do with terrorism.
The UK has one of the lowest levels of gun killings in the world, and mass shooting is rare. These are the first massive shootings in the country for 11 years, Reuters writes.
