A team of scientists from universities and agencies in the US, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and India predict that social pressures to abort female fetuses in some cultures will completely distort the demographics of several countries in the coming decades.

Based on the current trends, there will be 4.7 million female births “less” by 2030, reports Medical News Today, Periscope.

By 2100 the world will have 22 million women less.

These numbers come from billions of birth records from 12 countries known for deformities in the gender balance of newborn babies.

Researchers have accounted for a total of 45 million female births of “missing” between 1970s and 2017 - 95 percent from countries like India and China.

Researchers have highlighted the vicious cycle of gender inequality, where the fact that boys are preferred compared to girls leads to overindulgence of boys who will have difficulty finding a marriage partner.

This, according to scientists, will lead to violence and even worse treatment of women. /Futurism/Periscope
