Democracy Plus has asked President Vjosa Osmani today to dismiss CEC member Sami Kurteshi on the basis of the General Election Law, following his involvement in an incident with a CEC official.
A media communiqué says that by his actions, Sami Kurteshi is seriously damaging the integrity of the CEC.
In today's CEC meeting, Kurteshi has admitted to being involved in an incident with a CEC official, taking over the role of the police, instead of denouncing the person to responsible bodies in case he does not comply with measures for protection from COVID-19. The day before, Kurteshi had declared that he did not attack anyone. The change in statements from a public appointed is morally wrong. This is not the only case when Kurteshi damages the integrity of the CEC. The same, ongoing at the CEC meetings, has used insulting and divisive languages, mysogenous, and lullism”, said the communique.
