Although he will not spend time in prison, Calvey said Friday that the court's decision is <x0-faty and deeply unjust”, writes Free Europe.
“rracated with most cases, taking on parole is already a victory, but on the other hand, it's just cruel to be convicted of a crime that never occurred”, the American added.
Calvey had been detained in early 2019 and had been held two months in prison before being placed in house arrest and then released in the fall of last year.
Russian prosecutors accused the defendants of including Calvey of defrauding Vostochny Bank for 2.5 billion rubles or about $33 million.
The case began to be tried in early February, nearly two years after the initial detention of suspects. In this case, five Russians were sentenced on parole.
