The protest has started at the Ministry of Justice, where women's killings are required to be treated as national emergency.
They are demanding the dismissal of all judges, prosecutors and police who do not deal with cases seriously, according to the Criminal Procedure Code.
“The women's killers are coming up with recividents”, “down to patriarchal institutions”, “This minister's hands are on the blood of women”, “Life of greedy women for the state” are their most frequent calls.
Protests are organised by the Council of Thoughts and Religious Action - QICA, Kosovo Women's Network, Youth Initiative for Human Rights and the Kosovar Centre for Gender Studies.
The protest comes after the murder of Marigona Osmani in Ferizaj. Key suspect Dardan Krivaqa, who has been in marriage for two months, is in custody for a month.
This protest march has these demands: dealing with childicides as national emergency, establishing a department within the Interior Ministry for prevention and treatment of childicide, monitoring, sanctioning and firing judges, prosecutors, and Kosovo police officers who do not address cases of serious and gender sensitivity, according to the Kosovo Criminal Code and the Istanbul Convention; accountability from the Court Council of Kosovo, Kosovo's Prosecutorial Council, and the Police Inspectorate for these cases of violations, concrete plans by the Government of Kosovo for combating gender-based violence and women in all areas.
