In recent hours, rumors of a potential pope resignation have circulated in Italian media.
In the article published by the newspaper Libero Quotidiano, the pope is considering his resignation, both because of his age, he will be 85 years old on December 17th and his recent health problems.
The reason for the publication is the operation the Pope underwent in his colon in early July. It is noted that Benedict XVI, former pope, resigned at the age of 85.
So far there is no official comment from the Holy See.
