Former police officer Willam “Ben” Darby was sentenced in May for the murder of Jeffrey Parker in 2018.
Derby had killed Parker while answering the call that a man was armed and was planning to kill himself, reports Independent, translates Periscope.
Prosecutors argued that Darby had shown no will to admit the mistake and that it affected the long sentence.
Darby had declared that he had no bad intention when he pulled his gun trigger.
And after I shot, I woke up in the middle of the night... and I thought about Mr. Parker. I thought about his face. For his fiancée,” said Darby.
There's no bad intention. There was no malice. I'm human. I'm a Christian. I ask for mercy.
This case attracted much attention after Darby was allowed to continue patrol two months after his sentence.
The verdict that convicted him had also been criticised by the mayor but also by the chief of police, but was praised by the victim's family. /Periscope
