During 2021, 28 police and 65 police officers have been arrested since January until now, while more than a thousand complaints against police officials have been accepted.
So has the chief chief of Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK), the Hoda Objection.
“Since January until now we have accepted over 1100 complaints against police work, which have been addressed, and part of them have qualified as violations or who have doubts of criminal acts and another part has turned into police for disciplinary or administrative treatment. There is an increase in the number of complaints, and also during the summer, because of the flow of both citizens”.
So far we have suspended 65 officials, we have recommended suspension for 67 police officials because of criminal investigations we have conducted as an institution. It's a relatively high number compared to the whole last year that's only reached six months. 28 police officials for various criminal acts have been arrested, six police officers have been transferred from their countries and those for the interest of investigations that are under way, and seven inspections have been conducted in various police areas, where four of them have been extraordinary”, Hoda said.
With the arrival of exiles and the movement of citizens heavily charged, Hoda says that even their complaints against police officers have not been missed and that they have tried to treat them as soon as possible.
Kosovo's <x0 Street streets are more busy and there are larger circulations of people, there are more accidents and contacts with the police and, of course, exiles have complaints against the police or even during the movements, complaints that are also accepted by them and we try to treat them as soon as we can, he said.
Hoda added that they are constantly accepting and reviewing citizen complaints, and that their growth is quite large.
“Inspectorate consistently accepts and deals with citizens' complaints to police work, since the establishment, and even this year we have continued at a slightly higher pace of complaints, and the last two years there is an increase in the number of complaints against police, and this may also be how citizens' awareness of how to present their concerns, but also a greater job of our investigators and inspectors to address all their concerns<x1, Hoda for the EO.
